Even though they may be smaller than the normal sized Footprints in the Sand crosses, we almost put as much time into them as the normal sized ones. Smaller doesn’t always mean easier :) These ornaments are made from the same Cypress we have made the others from. They don’t have to be used as ornaments either. You can carry them with you daily or hang them in your car.

The footprints are carved into them. The finish is water color. The secret is that we use rain water to mix with the paint. I collect it running right off of the barn. God provides that rain water! After being painted, the water portion is finished to a high gloss to contrast the sand portion. The footprints themselves even have a slight gloss to give the impression that they are fresh in the sand. A leather chord is wrapped through the opening at the top. “God has carried me!” with the reference Matt. 11:28 is burned into the back.

The Footprints in The Sand cross has had quite a story this year. And.. not a story that we can take any credit for! This has been a story about God.

I had purchased some unique Cypress that I wasn't sure what to do with last year. It sat until January in the Barn drying through winter. It had such flow to the grain being that it came from the water itself. Other people saw in the wood the same thing I was seeing too. I knew they would be something special but I had no idea it would lead to over 300 crosses made and counting. Every 100 crosses I made a 3x the size Footprints in the Sand Cross. Number 100 raised $500 to help a young lady pay her bills while she fought Cancer. Number 200 helped raise nearly $3,000 and it bought blankets for NICU babies in the Dominican Republic. Number 300 just recently auctioned 3 times and helped raise over $2,500 for Suicide Awareness.

When I say we've been along for the ride I mean it. God took over and started carrying us back in January as our business was faltering and then He did all of this with each Auctioned cross!

The verse I have referenced on the back of each cross is Matthew 11:28

He will give you rest and carry you during your toughest times in your life. You just have to ask. Then sometimes he carries you whether you ask and want Him to or not.
